Engraved Whispers

As old and magnificent as a banyan tree,
I sat by the unearthed curved roots,
Eastern celestial hand holding its leaves,
While the other is wrapped around its bark,
A dance ceremony to hear its whispers,
Symbiotically shared with soothing birdsongs,
Angelic beings roaming to find harmony,
However, a green leaf will soon depart,
And along with it will the hanging lanterns fade,
Except, if you truly saw the heart of the tree,
And the whispers it wrote on the walls of
Imperial palaces to root their thrones,
Then you will realise the hope in igniting
Your heart to beat melodiously once more,
Because there is no reason to pause a life,
Like birds, constantly ascending the heavens,
And so, I must relay its whispers to another,
But within it you shall always be engraved.

I Am Cultural

Hold on. Pause. And take a deep breath.
Listen to the red beats of all our lives.
And wait. Be patient. And look outside.
See the yellow dust mixing with shades
Of green palettes awaiting to be stroked
For an enormous canvas. Now breathe.
And live for as long as your white smiles
Take you: over the blue seas or even at
Your own doorstep where you trembled,
Where you suffocated your old inner self,
A shock towards a culture you embraced
As a little child and chose to set it aside,
Let it shock you. Let it shock the very feet
That tried to escape a reality deemed to
Forever follow you innocently for a kiss,
And for a little hug, and request to never
Forget, so go into a huge shock so that
You will be able to return to us normal
For I am all of my past, present, future.

Breathing a Life

Torn between two dimensions,
To live a lie amongst old lovers,
And treat newly sliced wounds,
Here, now, I can’t breathe right,
Neither can I walk well nor talk,
Nor can I bright my own eyesight,
And I am torn here for over there,
The lovely change of my new life,
Pages in my own history written
For more years; abruptly ended,
To live in my own: free, for me,
Selfish, undeniably, but at least
I will be able to breathe again.

Moving On

Tumble a life in a wet climate,
Tremble voices of eerie lands,
A stalemate to observe alone,
So, sound the universe’s horns,
And listen to a fateful answer,
And marvel at an ancient ritual,
As the old becomes the new,
As your beautiful worlds merge,
And transform, and evolve,
To beget a time that flows
Away from this deafening pause,
To replenish a lost energy,
And rework a life’s elegy,
To be carried into the wilderness,
Of the vast seas, of the lands,
Of the timeless heavens above,
Of your life, of the unknown.
