For My Self

Reluctant was I to stand ground,
My own self in total disregard,
I may lift weights overhead,
Yet, mine holding me down,
And I may talk to others nonstop,
But will the ‘silence talk’ ever start?
And I may read others’ faces,
Whilst mine buried underground.

So here is to the era of recovery,
To the morning light of my moon,
To the midnight rise of my sun:
An early bird – for a lasting lullaby,
An invention – for an open mic,
A dew – for a refreshing smile,
A postcard – for a self-reflection,
So here is to how I stood my ground.

A Free Soul

Speak like the trees – voiceless,
Move like the wind – swiftness,
Think like this ancient crust of dust,
Collect rare beings whom you trust,
Listen like the stars – far away,
Love like the birds – a new day,
Become a young free soul and flow
Like this beautiful angelic doe,
Dance like the leaves – falling,
Stand like the mountains – rising,
Ever since you have lived this life,
Ever since you were the wildlife.

The Two Lads

The old lad and the not-so-old young lad
Started to walk together by the beach,
One had a stick and the other sunglasses,
The night swallowed the rays of lightness,
And crows would appear from the horizon –
Extremely distant that the two lads found
It excruciatingly painful to stare at, and so,
One of them sat on the snow-covered
Deserted unscathed wooden bench that
Was genetically engineered to survive
This apocalyptic world of many shadows,
The old lad went to his pockets and
Spread his palms out where seeds laid
There: warm, still, and totally silent,
The not-so-old young lad was extremely
Observant and stood firm in a great pause,
What he saw was something magical
Where extinct small birds and huge
Pelicans would soar high encircling
Those seeds, but the darkness changes
The beach and a whistling sound alarms
The two lads where they immediately
Walked along the coast in calmness,
One had a stick and the other sunglasses,
The old lad and the not-so-old young lad.

Hiatus

Do stand on an isolated bus stop,
The train will arrive any second,
Galloping through this sphere,
A time machine that will unfold,
And do await like never before,
An unwanted box full of gifts,
Finally accepted with open arms,
Albeit, emotions do get tangled,
Solution: extinguish the candle,
Hope for a better tomorrow,
No, somehow just work it out,
Make your stance formidable,
A foundation for a skyscraper,
And rebuild the broken parts,
Hidden under layers of dust,
And please do forgive yourself.

Sigh

Sigh! The wisdom these eyes carry through
The mirror that stands before me reflects
A knackered young soul. Sigh! You probably
Noticed my deep ancient breaths smoking
Out all this world’s excitement. Sigh! If I
Have ever walked the steps towards the
Starry constellation, then many galaxies
Would only pause for a second and glare
At my daring revolution. Sigh! But since I
Have lost the ability to imitate a bouncy
Toddler, I now sit back under this colossal
Canopy to watch the world from afar. Sigh!

Emotional Explosion

Is it true that when you miss
Someone –
So much –
The atmosphere becomes
Full of emotions
P-prohibiting
The words to … form?

Is it also true that when you try to make an
Eye contact –
Just one
Simple, direct, warm
Eye contact
The racing emotional roller coaster
Leaves them
Wondering around … distracted?

Surely when you stand tall and firm
To walk
Less than a metre
Worth of steps the
Emotional barricade
Blocks all limbs from reaching
That person –
That moment is now … gone?

Would it not then leave you
Frustrated
Or maybe angry –
So angry
That the heart still
Aches –
Beats against all its walls
And requests for its
Freedom from … emotions?

O Human

Read, speak, or write,
But never be silent
O human
Weep aloud today for
Tomorrow’s smile,
Or shout silently –
An inner earthquake,
Or an outer volcano,
Whatever you do,
I do, we do,
Try to survive a
Hopeful peace,
Feel, O human, feel –
Feel anger mixed with
Boiling hearts,
Feel sadness crushed
Into your chest,
And fight,
And stand,
As one human,
O human,
O fragile being,
O emotional treasure,
O beautiful creature,
The prey of monsters,
The free soul of a
Whispering nature,
Raise your hands
And pray,
For yourself,
For others,
For me,
Stand and sing
For those who left,
Sing and stand
For those who stayed,
O human, live,
Live, O human,
Live.
